We need a few volunteers to help us provide shelter for the homeless on Sunday nights, as part of Hope4Harlow
The churches in Harlow are coming together to provide a Winter Shelter for the homeless in January and February. Because it helps the homeless we are taking part, and so are Streets2Homes.
The way it works is that each venue involved opens for one night of the week. We are doing Sundays, because it fits with our Sunday Haven, and that’s when church buildings and church people are busiest.
The Sunday Haven will run as normal, then some guests will stay on with us after the Sunday Haven finishes. It’s not an open door for anyone, like our Christmas Haven. Guests need to be referred by Streets2Homes.
It’s Lights Out at 11pm, so everyone should get some sleep. The guests leave at 7am, and go to Streets2Homes for breakfast. The volunteers leave soon afterwards, in time to get to work.
We will be open, if we can get the volunteers, from January 8th to February 26th. We need (at least) two people from 7:30pm to 10:30pm, to make tea and coffee and chat with the guests, then (at least) two people from 10:30pm to 7:30am, to stay overnight.
One of our trustees, Steve Jack, will be there most nights. If you are interested in helping please contact Steve on firstname.lastname@example.org
